Description
Even if the prime aim of the Haute Ecole Leonard de Vinci is to provide training to students, it has set for itself three inter-related aims which ensure that the initial training is retained and built on:
- Continued training which responds to the expectations of the professional world by ensuring a continuous updating of the expertise associated with economic, social and technical development
- Applied research and service to the community which enhance the value of the teaching provided by the university college by nurturing cooperative relations with companies,
- International relations which extend the above-mentioned aims beyond the four walls of the institution.
- Three units of the Institut Supérieur Industriel, ECAM actively conduct applied research in the ICT domain.
Products & Services
Artificial Intelligence Laboratory
The lab has acquired advanced knowledge in design and modeling of systems using Artificial Intelligence (AI) concepts and conducts research in: Tools for automated text management and processing; Image pattern recognition and visual interpretation of the perspective; Design and training of intelligent flexible workshops with interconnected machine tools and their handling using computed symbolic mathematical language.
Electronic Unit
The unit has developed Video-models, a set of tools for 3D animations to demonstrate the running of electrical and electronic circuits. For more details, see: www.ecam.be/videomodel .The unit has also developed real-time data capture systems for low and high electrical currents and electronic circuits that can be linked with video-model technology to show 3D animations of the circuits.
E-learning
The unit actively participates in the development of Claroline, an Open Source e-learning and e-working platform allowing teachers to build effective online courses and to manage learning and collaborative activities on the web.
