eBloom, Bevopr, Penbox and Vadis Technology sharing experience to help you with your recruitment

The software.brussels cluster has given the floor to 4 startups to share their recruitment experiences. Discover the details of the interviews and learn from their insights. #knowledgesharing

Recruiting IT professionals is a unique challenge for startups. The IT sector is a dynamic one, and the offer is voluminous. Nonetheless the fact is that getting the right candidate is still a challenge for tech startups. What are they looking for? To find the talent who will possess both soft and hard skills, while being convinced by their project. These startups don’t always have the same resources as other large groups, so the search for talent must be based on a different way of seducing their increasingly demanding future recruits…

We have heard those difficulties, and it is through the collaboration of Amélie Alleman, an IT recruitment expert with over 10 years of experience and currently the CEO of Betuned – an innovative media and recruitment platform – that we have interviewed four member companies of the software cluster. The goal? To share their experience and advice on their talent recruitment process. In front of the camera, we were fortunate to have Margot Wuillaume from eBloom, Nicolas Christidis from bevopr, Emile Fyon from Penbox, and Jean-François Heering from Vadis. The feedback varied, with each startup having its own reality, maturity and resources.

Overall, here’s what we have gathered:

  • It is essential to highlight the benefits of working in a smaller, more human-sized structure (employer branding). – Probably the best argument you can share in an interview! –
  • It is complicated to compete with the salary packages offered by larger companies. – And that’s ok! –
  • Giving candidates a chance is crucial, even if they are not seniors. – You’ll be positively surprised –
  • There are numerous platforms where job postings can be made, and word-of-mouth also plays a role. – Be creative in your hiring. –
  • Soft skills are just as important as hard skills; candidates must align with the company’s values. – Believe in longlife learning –

There is no magic formula, and each enterprise will compose its approach based on its means, ambitions, and objectives. Trends evolve, and startups must constantly adapt to the market. However, isn’t change a positive thing and synonymous with growth?
