Backstage stories : dFakto : 25 Years of Evolution, Adaptation and Innovation

For 25 years, dFakto has established itself as a key player in high-quality data and risk management. The company has managed to reinvent itself without ever losing sight of its mission: to provide concrete and useful solutions to its clients, aligned with market evolutions.

Initially, dFakto was a consulting firm focused on niche issues, mainly related to risk management.
The company then began a deep transformation by creating a development team. The goal: to structure and standardize its expertise through technological tools. This approach led to the creation of an innovative “tooled consulting” model, a hybrid approach combining the strategic expertise of traditional consulting with practical, in-house developed software solutions.

Later on, the arrival of investors gave new momentum to this product-oriented strategy, with the ambition to further accelerate the development of high-performance solutions such as proPilot, which turns decisions into action.

Several key moments have shaped dFakto’s evolution throughout its history. In 2011, the company made a major shift towards building generic tools truly adapted to client needs. In 2018, a strategic contract with the French government allowed dFakto to prove itself in the public sector, often struggling with traditional, cumbersome, and inefficient solutions. In 2021, the arrival of investors marked a new turning point, allocating more resources to the development of powerful products.

Evolution: major lessons or major paradox?

At dFakto, adaptation is more than just a word—it is a necessity. Improving data quality and structuring information to offer a single, coherent view of reality: this is the core of their strategy. It enables the production of reliable and actionable reports while providing solid data to feed artificial intelligence.

The company has also learned to stay clear-headed in the face of sector trends. While some topics may seem essential at the time, many fade into the background over time. On this topic, Thibaut De Vylder states: “At dFakto, we prefer to focus on what has a real and lasting impact: ensuring data quality.

This pragmatic philosophy is also reflected in project management: anticipating 80% of the tasks, managing the remaining 20%. A strategy that is both secure and agile, centered on concrete client needs.

And when asked whom he would like to have dinner with, Thibaut De Vylder’s answer speaks volumes:

“A few years ago, I would have said Bill Inmon, the father of the data warehouse, but I was lucky enough to meet him. Today, I would choose the regional ministers, not to talk politics, but to show them how concrete solutions can transform data management.”

At dFakto, data is far more than just a number: it is a true lever for transformation
